Torpedo Sand is used as popular leveling course on top of sub-bases or for interlocking pavers. This is a coarse grade of sand and has the traditional orange-brown color. Typically Torpedo Sand is placed at 1/2″ deep or less on top of CA6 Grade 8 or Ca6 Grade 9. Locally sourced. Sold by the Ton.
Consider upgrading to Limestone Screenings for a paver base leveling course. Limestone packs better and resists weed growth.
Torpedo Sand is also a great option for sand boxes and beaches as it does not contain as many fines. Fines tend to be washed away by water easier. In a sand box environment, the every-so-larger particles are easier to brush off of children than powdery Mason Sand.
